Online Amazingness

"Pinterest is a place to catalogue the things you love."
If you're looking for inspiration, pinterest.com is perfect for you.  It is filled with pictures that have inspired others, and that you can "pin" to your own bulletin boards.  I was absolutely thrilled when I was introduced to it a few months ago, and recently realized it's my favourite site to look at for a pick-me-up.  What I love most about the site is that it's filled with positive energy.  A feel good escape.

Once you check it out, let me know if you need an invitation to join.  I'd be happy to send one along.

p.s. I am patiently awaiting the iPhone app, which will make pinning on this site even better!

Wendy's Words: Birthday Bash

a party pic from years past

Today is my birthday!  To start the big day, a private group shopping tour with a wonderful group of women - I think I will treat them to some Delight chocolates to celebrate the day; then I'm off to play in Toronto, doing whatever tickles my fancy at the time; followed by dinner with the fam at Enoteca Sociale.  You'd think I'd go shopping, but I've already bought myself a few early birthday presents (5 pairs of shoes to be exact), so I'm already feeling pretty spoiled.

Enjoy the sunny day!

Spring Swing

A stunning spring coat is a great way to boost your image on a daily basis, and put a spring in your step.  No matter what you're wearing underneath, if your coat looks great, you will too!

Colour Blocking ~ from Runway to Real Life

Gucci Runway, picture from style.com
On the Runway:
Trends are taken to the extreme, and presented as works of art for all of us to use for inspiration.  Runway looks often feel difficult to wear, and impractical for "real life"
For the Adventurous Soul:
If you really love this trend, and your playful personality allows you to pull this look off, you can wear a fairly literal translation of the runway look.  Use colours within the same colour palette, and show some skin to balance out the bold nature of this look.

Made Easy:
If you want an easier version of the colour blocking look, wear neutral clothing, and colourful accessories.  The accessories still need to be within the same colour palette, but you'll be making a more subdued, and therefore easier to wear, colour statement.

Springy Warmth

The sun is shining in Toronto so it feels like spring, but it's still cool enough that we need to consider keeping warm.  By combining floral patterns with lots of layers, you can create a wonderful spring outfit that will keep you warm.

Inspired by... S.

S. is an amazing women with a fantastical jet-setting lifestyle.  We first met at a closet cleanup appointment where we spent hours going through all the pieces she'd been collecting for over thirty years.  There was a lot of stuff that needed to go in order to see the good stuff!  S. wanted to look sexier while being age appropriate, and change her casual look to smart casual.  Her best styles are relaxed and she looks her sexiest in pieces that allow her to feel comfortable, feminine, and interesting.  This outfit is perfect for her upcoming trip south, and moving forward into spring and summer in Canada.

Playing with Patterns

Mixing patterns is an easy way to create an up-to-date outfit using pieces you already have in your closet.  The simplest way to mix patterns is to choose a neutral colour (black, brown, navy, white, or cream) and pair a straight line pattern, like a stripe, with a rounded pattern, like a floral.
